Jeff
Jeff continues toward normalcy. He’s left the wheelchair and is using crutches. Ribs and sternum are no longer giving him pain and the leg is healing nicely. Dr. said he could start walking on it in another 10 days or so. That’s about 2 weeks earlier than we expected. Checked the hip out and everything looks okay, just taking some time to heal. Back is doing better, too. Just for a little excitement, he’s been dealing with a kidney stone over the weekend. When it rains………The guy who hit Jeff is suing us with one of these “ambulance-chasing” lawyers. So, we are being forced to get a lawyer as well just to protect ourselves. We are anxious to see how the Lord will step in and handle this next hurtle.
Me
As Jeff continues to heal, my load is so much lighter since he can do so much more for himself. I AM ready for the house to get back to normal, too. Furniture has been rearranged, extra “medical” paraphernalia is sitting everywhere, pills galore, pillows, blankets, tv trays. One more week maybe.
Then just as healing is well on its way, Jeff develops a kidney stone. Here we go again. One difference is that there’s not much you can do for someone when they’re dealing with a kidney stone. Pain meds and patience is about all that come into play. He seems to be over the worst of it, but pain/pressure continues to flair up every so often.
And now we begin to deal with the financial aspect of it all. We knew up front that the coverage we had would fall very short of the charges to were accumulated. Our hopes were that the insurance of the other guy who (came out of nowhere and) hit Jeff would be paying. However, after weeks of avoiding our insurance company, he finally contacted them to let us know he is suing. Great. So now we have to get an attorney and head down a path that is completely unfamiliar to us. But I don’t feel anxious. The Lord know what He’s doing and so here we go!!
